Very pretty. Can they stay out there all year or do you keep them in the house in the winter?

They stay outside all year. Put a cover over the pond last winter to help keep it ice free, but that's the first winter I've ever covered a pond in the 20 years I've had one. This is my 4th summer with the koi, I used to keep only goldfish in my previous ponds. When we made the pond bigger last year I changed over to koi only, they get too big to share the space with other fish.
Here's a pic of the cover we put on last winter.

Thanks everyone, they're real pets. Follow you as you walk around the pond looking for a snack. They're a lot of fun.

Nice looking koi, they look very healthy

I'm planning on building a pond when me and my husband buy a house. I'll probably stock it with some tropicals in the summer and then move them inside for the winter and put koi in it (it doesn't really get that cold here usually).

What size is your pond?
