Red face Puggle Training!

Hi,

I have 2 puggles, one is 11 months, the other is 3.5 months.

Has anyone had any experience training these mix breed dogs?

I know because they're technically mutts, they are different characters depending on the dog. Our older dog is insanely hyper. She gets tons of exercise though. But wants to jump everywhere on the couch.

Does anyone have any suggestoins or good tips from their experience?

We have trained many Puggles and they are great little dogs. You could have 2 pups from the same purebred litter and still be asking the same questions. Every dog in every litter is it's own unique dogonality. This really has nothing to do with the fact they are Puggles. This has to do with their ages, the fact that you have 2 young dogs together and you need to be doing more consistent training with each one.

By the way the Puggle in the picture is gorgeous!

They are really sweet lil things. It's SO funny how the pups can be so different. We did seek some training help, they're both very smart lil dogs and respond very well to obedience training but we had a trainer come to our house for behavioural training, and it's helped a lot.

Did your puggles settle down at all?

Puggles are get pets. I have never had so much fun with dogs.

Because they are mutts you never know what characteristics they will take on.

My older one (Pebbles) she is VERY VERY hyper and just loves to run. She is a little big dog. A lot of people think she is a boxer. Her energy just never seems to leave! But she loves to snuggle at the end of the day. Sometimes it's difficult because she snores SO much! haha

We adopted Pebs from a family who was giving her up because they had 2 other dogs that would beat up on her. Honestly though, I think they neglected her though among other things, she has some "emotional" baggage.

My younger pup (Atticus) is almost 4 months, and we got him from a breeder (a well established one.) We looked around for more abandoned pups, but couldn't find any. We really wanted to have 2 puggles. He is MUCH MUCH more pug though, he's a lazy lil thing.

They typically get to be about 15-20 lbs. But Pebs is only 16 and they don't think Atticus will be that big.

They are a lot of work, they are definately energetic lap dogs lol
So worth it though!

Your pup with the lighter nose looks JUST like my sister's dog. She got him from a breeder in New York State I think. He is also VERY hyper and had a habit of peeing on everything (including their bed) for awhile. When he is in one of his moods he will run all over the house ricocheting off of the furniture.

She was just firm and consistent with him. Took him a little longer to learn than some, but he got it - he's very smart, but stubborn!
