Unhappy sick doggie

Hi, maybe someone can give me some adivce.
i have an 11 month old male rottweiler. He is usually very happy, hyper and ALWAYS ready to play.
But the past few days, he has been very sluggish, sleeps more than ususal and only eats half of his food. His nose had been warm and dry, but its also runny. He threw up 2 days ago but only that one time. Not to be gross, but he has been going "number 2" more than usually, and its solid, but a wierd yellowy color. Im not sure whats wrong with him. Can someone help? And maybe is there something I can give him to help him feel better??
Thanks!

I, like most dog owners, have dealt with a lot of weird poop and puke. I have a hard line rule though, if the dog is in any way acting lethargic or just not himself, off to the vet we go. That's really the only way to find out what's going on.

If your dog was full of energy and had just had a funny looking poop, it would be one thing to wait a few days, but honestly, from your description, I wouldn't be wasting my time on the internet.

Excellent decision ~ let us know how you make out. Weird poop is one thing but as pitgrrl says, lethargy is a big warning flag.

Clean thoroughly out a couple of jars or containers and collect both stool and urine to take to the vet with you.

Pull your dog off the regular dog food and boil some chicken and rice/potato and give that as the dogs only meal.

Make sure the vet checks the dogs temperature. Before any antibiotic is given be sure it's a bacterial infection. Viral infections work with antiviral drugs only or they ride out their own course. An antibiotic can make it worse if it's viral.

I agree. Also the decreased appetite. Yellow poop is quite often associated with liver problems. Make sure you take a sample with you to the vet. Good luck and keep us posted.
