One kitten with eye open already?
Hi, just wondering what you guys think..........it has been awhile since I have had newborn kitties, our kittens were born Fri, 03/25 and yesterday we noticed the first kitten born already is opening his eyes? Is this normal ?Seemed like always took them a little longer when I was a kid. They are not all the way open.....just the inner corners. It started with just one. We all came home and the first thing we did was go see how they were doing and his eyes were starting to open.

Did you mean 4/25? I think I read they should open their eyes in 10 days, give or take. I can't be sure though. I know some of the kitty experts will let you know soon.
Any pictures yet

I have been taking pictures, but my hubby doesn't have the cable hooked up to the computer, because I stuck the little tiny chip thing in the slot on the printer and the pics wouldn't download. He has to do that for me!

The rule of thumb is 10 to 14 days. My little ones opened theirs on the 8th and 9th day. L4H will know when hers opened theirs. It seems a little early for them to be opening. I noticed a slight slit about 4 or 5 days after they were born as well but the eyes didn't actually open until the 8th. You know you don't force their eyes open, right? It can do a lot of damage if they are opened before they are ready. One of mine had one eye half opened for about 2 days before it opened fully.

It is quite early for the eyes to start opening, the norm is 10-15 days, the eyes need this time to finishing developing. The time the inner corners start to open to the eyes being fully opened should only be a matter of a couple of days.
My foster kittens started at day 10 for the first and the last started on day 13. I would contact your vet to see if there is anything that should be done if the eyes do continue to open, this just seems to be too soon. We would love to see pictures.
