How the heck did I miss this thread!?
I love Bullies! Not to mention a brindle one at that. Smokey sure was a cute puppy. Grew up to be very handsome as well. Which part of Germany are you located. I am asking since my god parents are German, they live in Saarland. Well actually since they have retired, they also travel to SE Asia a lot now.

He's quite a handsome boy! I am also curious about the way these breeds are seen in Europe.

In Hamburg, for example, we have 3 categories of dogs: Cat. 1 - Pitbull, Staff, StaffyBull, Bullterrier (600 Euro fee, ~ 968 CAD) Cat. 2 - Bullmastiff, Dogo Argentino, Dogue de Bordeaux, Fila Brasileiro, Rottweiler and a few more (600 Euro fee, if they passes the temperamet test 90 Euro dog fee) Cat. 3 - all others (90 Euro fee, ~ 145 CAD) If you want to own a cat. 1 or 2 dog in Hamburg, you have to get a permission by the government and a police clearance certificate. Cat. 1 dogs are allowed if you take them from a shelter or other rescue group. No breeding allowed, all dogs must to be spayed or neutred. Cat. 1 and 2 dogs must to be leashed until they are 9 months old, then they also must wear a muzzle. All dogs must take part at a temprament test at the age of 15 month. If Cat. 2 dogs passes the temperamet test, they are allowed to be unleashed and unmuzzeled. Cat. 1 dogs must be leashed and muzzled even if they passes (otherwise the dog could be seized) this test. They are not allowed to go to dog parks without muzzle and leash. In the year 2000, when everything started ("Gipsy" and "Zeus", two Staffs, killed a 6 year old child on a playground in Hamburg), many dogs were put to sleep (it's against the Animal Welfare Act to kill an animal without a medical reason in Germany, but no one cared) in the so called "Hamburger Hallen" (no daylight, no walks, just bars and waiting for the last day... also called "dog concentration camp"). Heres a pic how it looked like in the "Hamburger Halle": http://www.the-underdog.de/kasparhauser.html (it's a story about the pitbull "Michi" who was rescued from the "Hamburger Halle") By now, we have more "Cat. 1" dogs here in Hamburg than 2 years ago. Most of the "Cat. 1" dogs are "Am. Bulldog-Mixes" or "Boxer-Lab"-Mixes so they aren't effected by BSL. Sorry for my bad english |

My German is not that great anymore(I am from Sweden),but I understood most of it,even though the Hamburger Halle seems to be the end of the road for many dogs,it still seems your system is better than ours.
Here in Ontario,Canada, even mixes who look like bullies are condemned,no breeding,no new Staffies or mixes of the breed are allowed. Owners who had these dogs before the ban, have to muzzle their dogs at all times outside of the house. Often time, rescuers will get these dogs out of Ontario in to other provinces where they are still allowed. I've really only met one Staffie and she was the most wonderful dog,but I know of several others that are equally wonderful. All in all,we hate BSL here, mostly it is the fault of the owners,if any dog attacks a human,it does not matter what the breed. By the way, your English is great!!

That seems like a lot of regulations but still better than Ontario Canada.
Hamburg, cool, I love that place. My god parents used to have an apartment in Lubeck and I had the privilege of visiting both places.
