Drooling Lab

My yellow lab is starting to have her tongue hang out and drool all over the house. We live in the Pacific Northwest and it is still in 60's and 70's for temperature. There is no way she is hot. She is about 7 years old and seems very healthy. We had her teeth professionally cleaned a year ago and her gums seem OK. I know for humans there is a medicine (Sal-Tropine ) you can buy. Is it safe to use on animals and will it help?

Jerry, it is a trait of the lab to drool. Why now? I can't be sure. This may be something your vet would like to look into. Your dog may be overheating, even when it isn't hot out. I would have him in to check for possible thyroid and other issues.

I would never give the dog something that humans take, without consulting your vet. I mean never!
