Blacky

Our sweet Blacky crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Friday evening, just shy of his 14th birthday. When he was diagnosed with Heart Failure, he was given only a couple months to live. He beat all the odds and lived for another 2.5 years, our little miracle dog. He was the most sweet natured, gentle, loving dog. There is a huge void in our lives right now. Blacky will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace sweet Blacky.

Thank you. He had the poodle type hair. If we didn't trim it, he would get quite shaggy and would start to look like corded hair, it would twist. This was his look a few weeks after a hair cut. He was a very sweet boy. Always wanted to cuddle with us on the couch or on our bed. He hated to be away from us.

Oh Beaglemom, so sorry to hear of Blacky's passing. He looked like such a sweet lovable soul. May his days at Rainbow Bridge be filled with fun and games.

Thank you BMDLuver. Blacky's passing was extremely difficult on all of us. We knew that it was coming as he had been ill. But even though you think you are prepared for it, you never really are. We are just glad that we were able to let him go without suffering a very painful death.

You gave him the greatest gift you could, love for life and a gentle crossing over.

Awww, what a sweet looking boy. Knowing what's coming doesn't dull the pain, and I know you'll miss him so very much.

Blacky had a wonderful and long life, and thanks to you, a peaceful end to it.

I'm so sorry!!!!

Thank you. Everyone on this board is great and has helped tremendously. This week has been quite hard on all of us. We keep expecting to see him in his favourite sleeping area or having him greet us when we come home or having him constantly bumping into us. We miss him a great deal. This year has been quite hard, we lost 3 of our beloved dogs in 1 year. One of the drawbacks to having pets that are of close age, you tend to lose them close to eachother.

Unhappy

I'm so sorry you lost your doggie. I can't imagine my dog not being at the door when I come home. She is my shadow, and no dog could ever take her place. I know she won't live forever, and it scares me when I think of it.
Are you planning to get another doggie?

Thank you Booty-dog. These past few months have been hard. I kept expecting Blacky to bump into me or coming in to the kitchen every time he heard Misty's barks of "I want a biscuit". I wish that our doggies and kitties could live as long as we do, but unfortunately that is not the case. We have contemplated getting another dog to join our family and for Misty to have as a playmate, but we have decided that when the time is right, we will know. We don't have any definite plans for now. Too much has happened in the last year that we are stilling reeling from.

I know no dog can replace the one you had, but I really think that another to fill that void would help. Yes, when you think the time is right. How many dogs and cats do you have currently?

True, there will never be a replacement. He was quite the special dog. We currently have one dog, Misty the beagle and one cat, Dinah.

cpietra16, thank you. Blacky will definitely live on in our memories. We still talk about him a lot and I have been having dreams of him and the others that I have recently lost.
