Lost little black shtsu/terrier

My dog was stolen from my car in Montreal on the corner of Rue St-Denis and Rue Belanger on Tuesday April 20th around 5pm.
Attached are two pictures of him.
His name is Hunio
He is 3 years old. He is a small shtsu/yorshire black dog.
We are offering a reward of $500 to anyone who finds him.
We are so worried about him and miss him so much

have you let the police know? vets, feed stores around your area? did they damage the car breaking into it? if so then the police will respond. I hope he was fixed? is he microchipped? You could call the shelters in your area, its possible they "rescued" the dog from the car if someone called them. Was he in the car alone long??

It's a good idea to go visit the shelters yourself, too--if the shelter is busy, your dog might not be recognized because of the rush.

I hope your dog comes home to you soon!

Hi Melinda,
We've filed a police report and put up about 150 flyers so far.
We've been to the shelters and vets as well since it happened we've been going back to the area and asking people if they know anything plus putting up more flyers and making internet posts.
We needed to make a quick stop to the grocery store. We were gone for about 15 minutes. The window was lowered a bit (I thought) but apparently too much since someone was able to slide their hand through and open the door and take him.
If we get him back we will never leave him in the car again
This was a quick mistake that lost us our dog who is our family. I don't know where he is or if he is being treated nicely and looked after or if he is scared and wonders why we are not with him taking care of him
The day he was stolen was the worst day of my life.

Hi Hazel,
We went to the SPCA yesterday they were very kind and compassionate.
We will keep going back to all the same places in hopes that we will find him.
Also thank you for your well wishes.

Safire, watch kijiji and other "for sale" ads online, they could be out to make a quick buck and put your dog up for sale

Thank you so much for your support and concern. Our pet is a member of our family.
We have some new developments in our search for our special dog Hunio.
On Tuesday we put up new flyers increasing our reward from $500 to $2500.
The very next day we received a phone call from man who said he had our dog and would meet us to return him.
He was able to describe specific details about our dog that only someone who had been in contact with him would know so we are 100 percent sure he had our dog. He called back 10 minutes after his initial phone call and changed his story saying that he had to give our dog away and then the person who took him in gave him to someone else and that as soon as he tracked them down he would call me back.
When I didn't hear from him I went online and searched his number and found his location. He has an impotax right off of the corner of Rue St. Denis and Belanger on Rue De Saint Vallier where our dog was taken and where we had put up all of our flyers. I find it disheartening that I only heard from him when the new flyers were put up with a larger reward.
Every time I call him I get a runaround story that he still hasn't been able to reach the people that he claims has our dog. His wife says she does not want to give us their contact information because she does not want to bother them.
I told her she can give them mine but she has not.
I think these people are extremely cruel to do what they are doing.
This is a horrible experience we are going through. All we want is to have our dog home. They know where he is and with all of the flyers up in their area I don't see how they didn't know he was a dog being searched for before they gave him away or maybe sold him. It's so terrible to know that these people know where he is and will not let us know. We miss Hunio so much. It's so awful when people don't understand the bond and love someone can have for their pet. I don't know what to do now

I would involve the police. This man basically admitted stealing your dog and held it for ransom....that is so cruel..

THEY GAVE HIM BACK!!!!
WE ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The police didn't do anything and did not even care at one point they told me to stop bothering the guy and stop looking for my dog.

We got him back because so many people who heard our story put pressure on the guy who took him and made them give him back.

Thank you everyone for your concern advice and support.
To others going through this don't give up put flyers everywhere if you think your dog was stolen put a huge reward on the flyers. Post on craigslist and Kijiji and anywhere you can relentlessly so people can become familiar with your pet. Also, just don't give up seeing other people on this site who lost their pets and then found them gave us so much encouragement.

Thank you again

Wonderful news!!

Be sure to bring Hunio in to the vets for a check up especially considering how long he was gone.
