blood in urine

I have a Keshund
we rescued him several years ago
Smokey is very old,so old that I have to help him down stairs etc.
Anyway i was took him outside today for his pee and I noticed that there is a LOT of blood in his urine.
Dog is showing no signs of being sick whatsoever.
Still wants his treat etc.
Am trying to contact vet etc.
Any comments would be appreciated.
This is my first post

Hi, stevebiss...welcome to the forum. it couldn't be under better circumstances.

Blood in the urine should always be checked out ASAP, so I'm glad you're trying to get him in at the vet. Likely, they'll need a urine sample when you go, too, so you might want to think about collecting some. You'll get a lot of good tips on doing that from here, but we're not vets so we won't be able to give you a diagnosis...

I hope Smokey is better soon! Good luck at the vet--hope you can get Smokey in tomorrow Please keep us posted.

I agree. Blood in the urine could be from a lot of things and needs to be diagnosed by a vet asap. BTW, welcome to the forum and please keep us updated on Smokey. Good luck.

A vet visit is in order, it could be something as simple as an infection and just antibiotic treatment
