How often should a two year old pee?
Hi all,
I have a Labbie (Lab/beagle mix) named Chloe, who will be two in November. She is a great girl. I've noticed lately that she is peeing so much less than she used too. Sometimes she will not go when she first wakes up and will wait a couple of hours. She is urinating but only about 3 maybe 4 times a day. Is this just her bladder maturing? She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort and is never in a hurry to pee. When she does go there is a normal output. She is having difficulty at the moment with her seasonal allergies and is on an antihysomine recommended by her vet. (diphenhydramine hydrochloride) which gives a little relief from her itching. I'm not sure if the two may be related but though I'd ask here to see if anyone had any advice or if there was need to be concerned. Thanks Katy |

Dogs do tend to urinate less frequently as they mature from puppyhood. In addition, the diphenhydramine HCl can cause decreased urination, so what you're seeing is probably a combination of Chloe's bladder maturing and effects of the antihistamine.
If you're concerned about it, though, you could always call the clinic and pose the question. If they don't think it's anything out of the ordinary, the phone call sure would set your mind at ease.
