Leopard Gecko question

I have a leopard gecko that a friend pretty much pawned off on me. Being an amphibian person, mostly, I'm not all that well-read on them. Now my gecko has problems shedding the skin off his head, and seems to being either going into shed or in the process of shedding just about constantly. He's also not eating a whole lot, unless I offer him waxworms (he'd never had them before I tried them out of desperation). My friend is MIA, and the pet store in my town suggested the eating was a heating issue, which I resolved, but he's still doing the weird shedding thing. Am I being overly concerned? I found a site that said babies shed about every 2 weeks, but he doesn't seem to be growing, so that doesn't seem to make sense?
Anyway, any suggestions people have would be much appreciated.

Hi,
Have you looked into humidity? It might be too dry. I don't have gecko's but you might check if misting would help. My water dragons need more water that geckos I think. They have a cat litter pan filled with water for soaking. Right now I'm painting and I can't find my reptiles for idiots book so I can't check it out. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice! I have a humidity box for him, but I'll start putting him into my daily misting rounds and see if that helps any. I sure do hope so!

i kept and bred leopard geckos years ago. i always misted very lightly in morning and supplied a damp sand box hideaway in a moderate temp part of vivarium. the growing problem comes down to feeding. you must feed your live food the best possible as thats what your gecko will get, and too many waxworms will damage its health as too fatty. make sure you also dust your livefood with calcium powder too.
