High Fibre Food/Anal glands

What is an example of high fibre foods. This should increase the bulkiness of stool so that my terrier can squeeze his anal glands. Unfortunately since being on grain free foods, i've noticed smaller stools and problems in that area.

Hi -- one of my dogs has always had anal gland issues. Like you, I feed grain free but find that the lack of grains in this foods is not good for anal gland problems.

So, what I have found works well is getting a supplement that has extra fiber and mixing it with some yogurt or water and putting it with the food. I have tried a few brands but am currently using Udo's Pet Essentials for dogs. It has flaxseed, rice bran, oat bran, sunflower, sesame seed for fats and fiber.

Sometimes I make my own dog foods and so they get rice, oatmeal and veggies like cooked green beans and carrots and that also helps but if you really want to remain grain free supplementation is the best way to go. I have also tried oat bran which bulks up the stool. My vet suggested wheat bran but I find oat bran easier on sensitive tummies.
