Oh Canada.....*sniff*
I gotta tell ya, reading all of these references to Canada (especially on the "Tell All " thread) is making me all mushy and watery inside.
I LOVE New Mexico, don't get me wrong. But you all keep thrusting me down memory lane (born in Newmarket Ontario, lived also in Keswick, Aurora and Toronto). Please allow me to purge a bit here. It might be good for me. I miss (in order of importance): STOMPIN TOM CONNORS Ketchup Potato Chips All the way-cool blues clubs on Queen Street, Toronto Lake Simcoe The letter "Zed" (no such thing here in the states) Butter Tarts Being able to get vinegar for my fish in a restaurant Did I mention Stompin Tom Connors? The word "chesterfield" The R.V park in Lindsay Skidoo rides Stompin Tom Connors The river in Keswick Davis Drug on Davis street, Newmarket (wonder if it's still there) The GREAT shoppes on Yonge street, downtown Toronto Craven A menthol lights Stompin Tom Connors I don't know if I feel better or worse now LOL __________________ |

Ah LR, but Canada has so many diverse climates as well.....Here in Vancouver it's been sunny and hot for a few months now. Very little rain. However we're going to pay for it with a huge burn season that's already much worse than last years inferno.
Ah taxes...What can we say, we're gluttons for punishment. We keep asking for it and they keep giving it to us. Cactus, you're kidding that you can't get butter tarts down there right? No ketchup chips either? Wow. Who would have thunk it. Here's a little something to perk you up. Hello out there we're on the air, it's hockey night tonight.... Ohhhhhh, the good old hockey game, it's the best game you can name, and the best game you can name is the good old hockey game. Sorry, I can't remember all the lyrics. I'm so glad that old Tom is still stompin' around arenas across the land. You'll be happy to know that Don Cherry just had his contract renewed for next year on Hockey Night in Canada as well. Eh? |

Try Lays too. I checked the HD and Lays websites but don't see any online ordering. You'll have to call.
Ketchup is my favourite flavour also. However, Lays has a wicked new flavour out: sea salt and pepper. Everyone go try it, its bloody awesome. Dee |

I used to work with a guy from California who grew up in Ontario. Whenever he came to Toronto on business trips, he'd always buy HUGE theatre-sized bags of Smarties, because you apparently can't get those in CA. Is that true??

Tillsonburg.... Tillsonburg
My back still aches when I hear that word... Its Bud the Spud from the bright red mud Rolling down the highway smiling There's lalallala (drawing a blank humm along) on the back of Bud's rig they're from Prince Edward Island... They're from Prince Edward Island... I'm in Peterborough, not far from Lindsay and when I was little we lived in New Brunswick. I love Ketchup chips. Pretty sure we could send you some. I got "over ranched" in Texas this summer. Man they LOVE their ranch! |

Apparently you can't get Coffee Crisp in the states either! How horrendous.
But, there are some things you can get on the east coast of canada that you can't get in BC or Alberta--For instance, my favorite snack, Humpty Dumpty's Ringolos. You can't get those on the West coast! Or, anything Humpty Dumpty for that matter. But, on the EAST coast, you can't get Old Dutch Potato chips anywhere East of Winnipeg...it's strange |

Sneaky My Friend....if you're serious, drop me a line. I would gladly cover your costs! I can't believe you have them in Pennsylvania! I've lived in Florida, North Carolina, West Virginia, Vermont, ........etc etc. and NEVER seen ketchup potato chips in the U.S! You are so lucky!!!!!!!
C-flat- Thank you! I was singing along! It's true, you can't get Smarties here. Coonlover, you're a peach! That's a very sweet thought ((hugz))) Calling the company is a good idea, too. Or writing them. But I could have sworn that they were Hostess brand. No more Hostess up there? Or is my memory failing? |

Delirium, what is the name of the river in Keswick?
My brother sent me Ketchup potato chips ONCE. And butter tarts! They were gone in no time. My son and I fought over the last one. Big brother is not easy to get a hold of these days. Well, since we stopped talking... LOL...family feud! The lady who used to babysit me is still a very close friend. We talk on the phone all the time. She lives in some town I wouldn't be able to spell if my life depended on it. Penetang-something-or-other. Maybe I should hit her up for some chips, when her finances improve. She's having a tough time of it at the moment. I remember coming to the states, and going to McDonalds. I asked for vinegar for my fries.....and was met with perplexed looks and stifled giggles. They don't carry vinegar. People don't even put vinegar on fish here! Just lemon juice. And Luba, there are no such things as "serviettes" here LOL. They are napkins. I remember visiting the states as a kid. I once lost a spelling bee for saying "zed"- BUT I SPELLED THE WORD RIGHT, darnit! I spelled it right! They had nooooo idea what zed was. |
