Hi again Hazel:

Glad to hear that JD's stools are tightening up. Hope things are a go for Tues.

I found my SEB today. I think I've had it in the house between 8 to 10 years, and it's the same brand as Longblades - Organic Traditions. It's been stored in its original bag - which is a metallic ziplock - and in an airtight container.

Curiosity got me so I brewed a small batch to check its texture and flavour. Texture was excellent and the flavour was just about non existent and non descript. So I'd say it was good. There was no "best before" date on the bag and I think the powder - if properly stored - could keep indefinitely. The only thing one would have to do is test it to see if it had gone bad.

Sorry about the Holisticats web site. Sandy's site was hacked and she is working at getting it back together. I shall let you know when it is up an running again.

As far as doing the PM bit, I don't mind doing it at all. We've done the dial up before, so we know the frustrations it can cause when you're trying to get pertinent information. And I have the time - I'm permanently out of work - that is to say, retired

Oh, that's good news about the SEB shelf-life! I suspect I'll be ordering the Organic Traditions online, anyway, because Eau Claire is not a hotspot for health food stores

His stool was almost normal this morning--maybe a tad soft, but nicely formed. Fecal float came back negative for parasites. Looks like we're on track for his neuter tomorrow. The plan is to skip the FeLV follow-up booster...not sure what effect that will have on his FeLV immunity, but shouldn't he be developing immunity naturally about now anyway since he's approaching 1 yr in age?

He's going to hate not getting to eat tomorrow morning before his surgery, though. I'm predicting a very, very grumpy kitty on the trip in...

And isn't retirement wonderful? Although we seem to be about twice as busy now that we're retired as we did before hand! But at least we're not feeling rushed about it because we have the time!

Me again HRP:

Just to wish JD good vibes for his surgery tomorrow. Glad to hear his stool was good today. Hopefully they won't have to administer too much antibiotics, cause it could upset the apple cart again.

I'm hoping that, too, Reg! Thanks for the good wishes!

The neuter went well

Some problems with his mouth, though--some sort of hypersensitivity to calculus, from what I can gather. They removed an eosinophilic mass of some sort from the left side of his mouth and sent it out for analysis--when the results come back we'll have a better idea of what we're dealing with.

We retested for FeLV and FIV since he had a bite mark when he arrived and so might not have tested positive that soon after infection. This go-round, the test was also negative, which is a load off my mind!

He was a little loopy when he got home, and paced most of the evening, but finally settled down a bit at about 7 p.m. He's sleeping now
