Question:
My cat is 7 years old, overweight and very constipated. I have tried giving him mineral oil as prescribed by my vet but that does not work and he is in terrible pain. Please help. Cheryl Answer: Cheryl, There is a main product in homeopathy effective for constipation in obese patients, it is called GRAPHITES. The cat should receive GRAPHITES 15 CH, 3 pellets 3 times a week. And even more, this product should with time, produce a gradual weight lost. (In a few months) What would also help, is to add plum juice or a fiber supplement in the food. But be sure (consult your vet) that the cat is not developing a disease called megacolon which needs hospital care. I have a cat suffering from Megacolin
My cat Nike is taking Lactulose and Laxatone and was prescribed Royal Canin Gastro intestinal fibre response food. This food actually works as far as making his stools soft enough so he can go. The last food prescribed by another vet did not work and he was in trouble again. Also since he had two enemas he limps a bit. I am not sure what happened during the procedure to make him have a permanent limp. They told me before the procedure that his bones looked good.
