help needed for rabbit house
i want to give half my garder to a couple bunnies, there's a house already there for them, i am wondering about them burowing, do i cover the ground with chicken wire or dig a trench around the perimeter and bury the wire? how deep do i need to bury the fence?
Thank you. |

Your best bet is covering the ground with chicken wire, they burrow quite deep at times and will be out of an enclosure before you know it.
The new shed thats going up here this weekend is going to have some major changes from the old one, the outdoor access for the bunnies is going to have mesh wire burried approx 1 foot under ground. I believe its healthy for rabbits to burrow, this way they'll be able to do what comes natural to them but not escape. But definately have it secured at the bottom, or they will get out.

FOr Erykah-
so are you putting the chicken wire flat across the ground 1 foot underground? is it enough just to encircle the area with chicken wire 1 foot down? |

Im covering the entire base of the pen 1 foot under ground, the previous one was laying across the ground ( so they could still graze on the grass but not burrow out)
If you only dug it under along the perimiter they will burrow down, they burrow far in record time. Amazing little creatures bunnies are I'd strongly suggest laying wire on the ground.
