Lightbulb german shephard w/crystals in urine

what causes dogs to get crystals in urine, my baby is 2 years old?

the cause depends on the type of crystals. the dog may also develop bladder stones from the crystals. my dobie mix is on science diet c/d to keep her struvite crystals at a minimum (excessive mg & phos cause these crystals) although she was being fed a premium dog food. I think my dog has a predisposition to developing crystals in her urine and subsequent urinary tract infections and incontinence. I suggest you have your vet do a complete work-up to determine what type of crystals are present and she/he can then prescribe the correct course of treatment. The problem will not go away by itself. my dog is doing great on her special diet.
