Doggie constipation
I just got a 4 month old puppy from the pound 2 days ago and he has only pooped once. He hasn't really been eating until today and he ate 2 times, 1/2 can dog food each time. He is also drinking lots of water. How will I know if he is in trouble. He is still very energetic and playful and doesn't appear to be in distress.

Constipation
Since he just started eating today he probably had nothing to poop out. Chances are he was upset at the pound and ate little there either. If you don't see a poop tomorrow call your vet. If of course he appears ill, begins to vomit or anything else out of the ordinary contact your vet immediatley. What kind of dog is he? Did he eat canned food at the pound? I think a good quality kibble would be a better than canned food at this age.

Have you brought him to the vet yet? Whether or not dogs get checked in the pound/shelter, I always like my doggies checked when they come home.

Maybe he was trained to go in a certain "spot" and thats why he's not going.
I'm only saying this because my inlaws once adopted a dog from the THS, and she wouldn't go poop for the longest time, then they took her for a walk in the park, and man did she go! Obviously she had been trained to only go in the park, and not in the yard. Or he may just be upset due t the changes in his life (like the others said)
