Nasty restaurant dilemma...

Where I live, there are nearly no restaurants. There are maybe 3 that deliver here at all...

So here's my nasty restaurant dilemma:

If two restaurants make the same food and one is more expensive, really greasy and really skimps on everything and the other is cheaper, less greasy, tasty but often the food has a sort of sand on it, which one would you eat?

Skimpy or sandy?

Just to be clear, not all the food is sandy, but you get one or two bites that seem sandy. It could be a weird spice they use, I dunno.

Ok, so you know those days when you really want take out? It's those days I'm talking about.

wait, I'll make a poll.

thats a tough one. i dont mind a bit of sand, if thats what it is but its kind of gross going through what it could be... although skimpy greasy would be my second choice!

Think I'd have to call the sandy restaurant and ask them exactly what accts for this.

If no logical explanation could be offered, I'd take greasy and skimpy as the lesser of the two evils.

I'm so afraid to call... What if I call and piss them off? THEN what will be in my food?

I hope better restaurants move into my neighborhood...

lol, Prin! that is one of my fears too... why I hesitate to send food back to the kitchen... Usually, I will just complain after.. politely. Sometimes they will take it off the bill.. I dont really care.

Maybe you and your man, once you win that lotto.. could start your own restaurant, Prin. Sounds like there is a definite need..

I live in Laval, but far, far from the good restaurants and basically from the Laval civilization. I mean, I'm where the farms in Laval are. There's really nothing up here...

Yeah that is exactly what I would be thinking too. I am not sure which I would pick .Skimpy is no good, but I am big on texture and sandy/gritty is not my thing

I've worked in a lot of restaurants also can't afford them anyway so i'd go with frozen food if thats an option. I wondered the other day how you'd have time to cook with all those dogs around.

Pretty tough dilemma, sandy or expensive greasy, I honestly wouldn't be able to decide.

Yeah, frozen food or make your own. Neither of those options, greasy or sandy, appeals to me. McD's would be better.

Uggh. Neither. But if one, deffinately skimpy.
If you lived near a beach, and this was an oceanside restaurant that serves you on a beach-patio, then by all means, give them some leverage when it comes to sand. But you're not on a beach! That's probably not sand! I don't even want to think about what it is.

It may very wll be filler in the seasonings. I've seen all kinds of gross stuff done to save money at restaurants. One in particular stands out and it was expensive, very hoity toity.

Yeah, to me it's the spices because it's only in some foods and not all... Like if it was just on the meat, then they probably dropped it on the floor , but this is in one of their salads too (one but not the other).

I can't deal with super greasy food, so I'm the sand vote. But only if I thought it was the spice and not unwashed food.

Anyone that has lots of cheese. Well we don't order pizza that much anymore. So probably neither. I would also try and make it myself.

Ok, well, I should confess what I do. Generally, if I'm desperate, I order from the sandy place... But only when I'm desperate... When I'm not so desperate, I go to the Adonis (the best grocery store ever) about a half hour away and get the same food raw, bring it home and cook it...

I went from having the BEST pizza place in Montreal on my street, the best coffee a few blocks away, and a costco 5 minutes away, to having everything good at least a half hour drive away. But I'd never trade my toads and trees for pizza.
