Unhappy dog is scratching so bad she is losing hair

Our family dog has always been timid since she came to live with us.She constanly whines and is always scratching her belly area.We have treated her for fleas and it didn't seem to make any difference. She is very loyal, loving and totally non-aggresive,but soon I am scared she will have no hair under her belly and I am sure the more she scratches the longer she will make it worse, and a trip to the vet is out of the question financially. Is it just nerves, how can we help her and treat the affected area?

Hi,

Maybe your house is too dry. try getting a humidifyer.
maybe it's the food your pet is eating. Try one with a higher unsaturated fat content.

Or maybe it's a skin condition....which means take her to a vet.

Some towns have a free or cheap service at universities if they offer a veterinary program
