basenjis who perspire?

My husband and I have been walking 2 Basenji/Shar Peis this week at an SPCA. We have noticed that each after runs and brisk walks, that each has droplets of water on their noses, a row of droplets along the sides of their hips and that their tummy hair is quite wet. Since dog's perspire through their tongues and foot pads, what is this water? A sign of a health problem? They aren't ours, so we cannot take them to our vets. We will ask the shelter to bring this to the attention of their vet, however.

Since Shar Peis react to heat, could this be the source of the "sweat"?

Anyone with any knowledge or this experience?

Thanks for your time.

It's a no-kill, run-by-volunteers SPCA and we have met so many wonderful dogs!

sorry i'm just seeing this thread now... I have a basenji-mix, and have never noticed such wetness on him. I'd suspect it's either related to the sharpei part of the mix, or a health issue. Has the shelter vet had a chance to look into it yet? Just curious. if you find an answer, please post.
