lost cat update
Hi. I recieved a message from an unknown person that he hit Scoobert in the back alley and that there was nothing he could do...
Unfortunately, this person did not leave a name or phone number and therefore I cannot know for certain if it was in fact Scoobert that he hit, or if Scoobert died immediately. I suppose I am grateful that this person phoned, however it would have been nice to know more about this "accident" for closure reasons... |

Your local SPCA must have picked up the cat,at least that's what they do here, maybe you can call them.
It's really sad,but it happens too often to cats left to roam around. The poor little thing was probably terrified, but I am hoping he had a quick death and did not suffer. I understand you need surety and closure, but without seeing the cat,how can you tell? I have 4 cats buried in my backyard, against the law,but my vet did not argue, she knew how I felt...I needed to put them in their own backyard. Anyway, sorry for babbling I am also sorry for Scoobert and your loss, but we all live and learn.

Thank-you for your kind words Anita. And thank-you for your advice - I will call the SPCA and see if they have found any bodies - the last time that I checked they said that they hadn't found any that matched Scoobert's description.

Thank-you for your words of hope Anita.
I have kept in touch with the SPCA and the city sanitation department - still no bodies found. This has lead me to believe that Scoobert may still be alive. This man could have hit Scoobert and left him thinking he was dead, but he was really only stunned...and so Scoobert got up and hid...??? I find it hard to believe that someone could drive down a snow layden back alley fast enough to kill a cat, perhaps injure a cat, but kill a cat??? Unfortunatly, if Scoobert was badly injured he could have found a hiding place just to die. That however, I refuse to believe, not yet anyway. Deep down in my heart I feel that Scoobert is still alive. I am not sure if I believe in intution, however, something is telling me to keep looking, and so I will, atleast for awhile longer. It snowed the other day and I found a number of fresh cat prints around the neighbors back yard. I also found some prints that followed the fence and lead to the my boyfriend's front door (from where Scoobert was lost). It is most likely a neighborhood cat, but it has given me a little hope, especially since it appears the cat who made the prints stopped in the driveway and jumped on the car - something Scoobert did a lot. Unfortunately though, there hasn't been any other tracks near the door and if it was Scoobert, I would expect him to wait/hide in the bush by the front door... I have read about a number circumstances that the cat has returned after about a month - actually a month seems to be a common time frame. I have also read that terrified cats will hide for quite some time and, usually not far from home. The neighbor has many hiding places for a cat in his backyard, so I plan to ask for his permission to search his backyard - all the crooks and crannies with a flash light- especially since I found cat prints there. He does have a cat too, so it could just be his cat, but he says that since Scoobert went missing, he hasn't let his cat out - unless one of the kids let him out... Anyway, it can't hurt to look right? I also plan to convince my boyfriend and his brothers to help me search for Scoobert early in the morning - around 2am. I was told that most cats in hiding, will come out around this time, when all is quiet, to hunt. So maybe we will get lucky and find him out and about. ps. Here is a picture of my handsome friend. |

Tamillel...I am glad you're keeping your hopes up,you never know..Maybe this person was a crank-caller who saw a poster and wanted to play a cruel joke on you...it takes all kinds..
Your picture did not show up,try again...the file was probably too big. I can imagine how you feel not knowing for sure and I hope you get closure one way or the other, hopefully by Scoobert coming home. Keep us posted, chin up
