Unhappy Sabrina tired after meds - normal???

I took Sabrina to the vet yesterday for her coughing and sneezing and crying a bit. The vet said she probably has an upper respiratory infection (no fever) and gave her some antibiotics and something that helps her cough up the mucus in the lungs. However, I think she's even more tired after she started on the meds. Is that normal? The vet said she's otherwise healthy and a bit overweight (5.01 kg) .

Also, I finally understand why so many people keep on telling me Science Diet is no good because it contains meat by-products and corn fillers. I am wondering does anyone know Nutragold or Wellness or Natural Balance's good? I know there are many more great cat foods out there but right now I live in Hong Kong and there aren't a lot of choices other than the ones sell in supermarkets and I am not feeding them those. Thanks.

Wellness is really good. And antibiotics can suck a lot of life out of anybody on them. Just monitor her and make sure the fatigue doesn't get any worse.

maybe..

it's just that the meds have started to give some respiratory relief so she's catching up on much needed sleep? As Prin noted, just keep an eye on her and hopefully she'll be back to her perky self in no time. Wellness is a great food if your pet will eat it. I suggest getting some samples first as I bought a bag and my gang wouldn't touch the stuff yet devour Innova. Go figure, guess pets have food preferences too.

Her coughing is definitely better. She no longer cough/sneeze/runny nose, but she's still tired most of the time. The meds the vet gave me last 7 days. I will see again after she's done with all her meds.

VCheng,Wellness is probably one of the best foods, although my cats would not eat it....snubbed it like only cats can
I don't know about the other 2,the only thing you can do is read the ingredients...no corn and preferably no by-products.
Hope she feels better soon

Keep in mind that the antibiotics will affect her appetite too. You may want to wait til she's off the meds before initiating a diet change. As her appetite perks up, start mixing in some of the new food with the old.

You are right, her appetite is not as well as before she starts her meds. Won't even touch her dry food so I am giving her a larger portion of canned food at nite. She seems to still enjoy it a lot. Here's one of my babies.

Thanks guys. The meds are working and now she's eating well and no more coughing. She's still a bit tired but I think she's gonna be fine...so glad & happy
