From Summer to Snow
Some shots from the last few months in our neck of the woods . . . .
Last week, a walk in snowy Kananaskis Country . . . . Pete on the Sheep River. Below, we're the only people or tracks here . . . . Ruby and Pete pause to listen up in the bush. Interestingly, on the way back, they became agitated in this spot as we continued to retrace our steps on the descent. It was only when we reached a fork in the trail that I noticed some fresh bear tracks leading to the right while our own trail led to the left. We'd been following a bear down the mountain, somewhere between five minutes to 30 minutes trailing based on the time we spent returning. Maybe the bear was standing right there and I didn't notice!!! Below, Ruby at the top of the Humps. Some Bighorn Sheep had been there earlier, making tracks in the fresh snow. Ruby on the descent . . . Below, the sun comes out for Ruby . . . continued . . . .

Below, Pete at home in the Fall . . . .
Below, Ruby explores an old fence line on the prairie . . . Ruby, up high in Kananaskis Country To get to the above, we had to cross the below . . . . four paw drive on dogs makes them more sure-footed than me. There is a trail there but not as good as it usually is. Pete was there too . . . Below, Ruby's view . . . continued . . . .

I dunno, Rick, doesn't look like much of a trail when you were going "high up in Kananaskis Country" .
And Ruby after her "mining" episode . Thanks for sharing those pics, I just love looking at them.

That last one cracks me up! Another great photo essay, Rick! And look at that snow!! We're still waiting for our first snow here. Do you have snow around the house, too, or just in the mountains?
The "crossing the below to get to the above" trail? No way! I would be stranded right there!

Great photos! That was really fun to look at and your dogs are having a blast. I bet they sleep good at night. I love the photo of your dog running with a stick in it mouth.

We are covered with about six inches of snow at home Hazelrunpack.
Deeper than this . . . Barkingdog . . . . . Pete is carrying an elk spine, not a stick, in that picture. Lots of corpses on the bald butt prairie. Rick C www.goldentales.ca

A nice moment today with Ruby on an early morning walk at Chain Lakes
Even earlier today, Ruby and Pete at daybreak at our home . . . A few days ago, Pete tries to enjoy some lingering berries on the Ornamental Crabapple tree while Ruby watches with interest. Rick C www.goldentales.ca
