A few scenes of Alberta

On The Cowboy Trail, near Longview, prairie, oil and mountains come together.

Forest fires in BC and Montana have been painting our skies red, leading to some fiery sunsets over bales of hay. It was the second hottest July on record in our area.

Deer graze on a hillside at sunset . . . . this scene plays out every evening next to our home.

Wow nice scenes of Alberta Rick!

I LOVE the 3rd shot. It's very graphic, has nice composition and a nice curve.

That's the nightly scene taken from my driveway. The sunset is also from my yard.

Here's some fowl contestant's at the Millarville Country Fair on Saturday.

Some more"

An old timer plays the spoons on his lap and his younger brethren entertain the early morning crowd with "Red River Valley."

Some great scarecrows this year:

Guinea Pig judging:

Portrait of a nine-year old young lass who was riding, holding the Alberta flag, in the Millarville Musical Ride.

She did very well on her horse.

There was a $1,000 prize for the best blueberry pie this year . . . . a 13 year-old had the best of 83 entries.

More fair and market pictures at www.goldentales.ca/guestlog.htm

The fair grounds are about 10 minutes from my house . . . so an easy jaunt.

Great pictures, Rick! (As always) I love the fair shots--so much going on! And the fowl pics are wonderful! (hazel has a thing for chickens and ducks )

Those are just a pleasure to look at. I also love the fowl pics.
The floor in front of the scarecrows looks as if it is covered completely with shavings, do they have the entire barn floors covered like that?

The floor is normally dirt for riding and such . . . . covered in some plywood and shavings for the exhibition. An exhibition hall, not a barn though.

A few more.

Below, west of Turner Valley, Alberta, in the blue rock area, some picnickers gather to view fall colours.

This Big Horn Sheep in the same area seemed to be enjoying the view as well.

In a forgotten canyon at Chain Lakes, poplars change colour while snow gathers in the shadows

Below, mist rises from Elbow Lake in the Elbow Pass area of Kananaskis Country. First snow.

From late September, frost bitten fruit

Below, cruising to work in the early morning fog, I shot this through the side window of the car at 120 kmh . . . . and it appeared to work.
