Pet Videos - Having problems?

We are adding a new video feature to the bulletin board.
(We are testing it now - so even though you may see the link in the main navbar, there is no access for the next few hours)

Once it is live - THIS is the place to post your comments questions or troubleshoot.

I've looked into this myself..unsuccessfully - and now I'm waiting for some outside help which will hopefully come soon. Sorry for the delay - Marko

I uploaded my first video and was wondering if I did something wrong. It appeared on the BB but when you go to view it all it shows is a red x and when you push the play button it says "error" in red at the top of the screen. How did I mess up? Thanks in advance

Did you upload it or did you post a link from youtube?

after mine was uplaoded I got this message..


Media not visible.

This can have 2 Reasons:
1. Media is waiting for Admin's Approval
2. The encoding Process is not finished.

I think its still encoding but I will keep an eye on it & see if it has same issue as yours

Yup seems to be an issue - I'm on it though.

Added - need Dave (tech support )for this one - so I'll (or Dave will) post back soon.
Added - it was workin fine though until recently which makes it easier to diagnose.

Question - can both you and Diamondsmum triple confirm that you are trying to upload your own videos NOT youtube or any other shareplace.

Can you also confirm the filetype and size of the file?

yup mine is a AVI size is 16.5MB defiantly uploaded from my PC.

yes, mine are uploaded from my PC. One file is 4.79 MB (the cookie one) and the other file is 2.38 MB. And one question, where do I find file type? I know they play on my windows media player and I did upload the same files to my facebook(oh i should put that i did this after they wouldn't load here, so they are not any type of link, straight from my PC). Sorry I am a bit of a computer idiot...

I have never tried uploading a video yet ( I have a hard enough time with pics) But It says I have send video to Admin. befor posting. How do I do that??

Ohh M&M I see what your saying.. When you upload a video after its completed uploading it has to be approved by the admin before its actually posted. You dont need to email it to them. HTH. (The vbvideo program does that automatically)

I was just wondering how the video issue was going. I just recieved two emails from pets with a message saying that my two videos were not approved because they were inappropriate. Was this just a message to clear the videos? Can I repost them or is there still issues?

Sorry for the delay everyone,

We have emailed the developer of the software and are awaiting a response. For now you can still add youtube videos though. Hope to have this fixed this week.

Just an update - we have upgraded the video module since yesterday but it's still not working. (Looks cool and new features but still wonked out).

We are now working with the developer to troubleshoot this issue and should have some feedback and a solution real soon.

Another update - We have located the conflict and are working on a workaround.

Please note that while we are able to support several different video formts, there are multiple ways to create an avi file.

If you have a file that will not display properly, please let me know and I will investigate and convert it for you (after you email it to me). PM me or Marko and we will tell you where to send the file.

This will allow us to better resolve any bugs in the software.

Okay I am lost now. I submitted a new video, got my approval in my email....said to log in to be approved. Come back to pets and log in....and no video. Tried it three times.....is there somewhere else that I am suppost to be logging in? Thanks in advance

I uploaded and received the same e-mail! I logged in and couldn't find my video too

Perhaps Marko or an admin could explain the technical difficulties. There truly must be a light at the end of the tunnel

I have spoken with both dave & marko via phone & have been Pming/emailing back & forth for the last couple of weeks on this issue.

The reason I say the email is NOT for us is because in the email it says

On behalf of Diamondmum (which makes me think its NOT meant for us)

it could be CC'd (carbon Copied) to us as a acknowledgement or a bug.
