dog losing weight

My dog is eating and eliminating well, but is losing weight. He has an irregular heart rythym but I chose not to have the battery of tests for heart disease. He is a cocker spaniel cross so is taking taurine supplements occasionally. Can you help?

A lot of dogs are born with irregular beats or murmurs

What was the vets suggestion about the testing? And why do you choose not to go through with it?

Weight loss could be one of many things. Make an appt with the vet and take a fresh stool sample with you in a clean sterile container.

The dog may have a parasite.

I agree with Luba,

The possible reasons for weight loss are many. It may or may not have anything to do with irreg. heartbeat

I would do the stool test first.
Parasites are all too common in this department and normally not too expensive to deal with either.

What did your vet suggest was causing the weight loss?
