You are very very loved here. So was Sam. I guess you know that. It breaks my heart to come back and read this thread as well. Tears start to flow every time.
Cry, you deserve it. If tears cleanse your soul then we all will have very clean souls for quite a while.
Just think of the fun Sam and Daisy are having at the Bridge. I can see them now romping in the leaves - just like at hazel's. No pain and so happy to see each other again.

What a lovely collection, otter! Oh, Sam, you were such a character! Always with a big smile!

And I love the shot of him 'hiding' behind the fence!

I'm sure he's running young and free again, Frenchy, an waiting for his to join him at the bridge!

14+, what a beautiful poem, made me cry again.

Rottielover, what a wonderful pic of Sam.

Frenchy: . Sam's smiling face would always bring a smile to my face, I didn't have to meet him in person to feel the love he had to give, I could see it in his eyes.

Frenchy,as I am sitting here, tears still flowing down my face, hubby asks me, why does Frenchy adopt older, unadoptable dogs, dogs that will cost a lot of money, dogs that do not have long to live??

I explained, because she is a totally unselfish person, who sees the need in these wonderful dogs, the need for love and compassion.
They suddenly become young again at Frenchy's house,a new spring in their steps a will to live,a will that other people crushed.
So,whether these lovely,white-faced older dogs live a year or ten, their love and devotion, will forever be in your heart.

Looking at Sam's album by Otter,I think hubby understood

I second that.

Omg 14+..That poem.It had me bawling.Soooo beautiful...

Frenchy,I thought about you while I was at work. And I had my bouts of streaming tears. The first thing my partner asked was, whos pet passed away.Does he know me or what...He gives his condolences.

His parents have 2 senior dogs. He's dreading when the time comes for them...

The way I see it,3 years of memories is a life time in my eyes. They will always be there.

Frenchy I am so sorry for your loss. But how lucky could Sam have been to end up in such a loving home someone like you who will give everything for there dear pets. You were also lucky to have had Sam in your life and don't worry he knows you did everything you could for him. He will always be there watching over you and being your shadow. dear Sam

ahhh he would understand even more if he had met Sam in person. Lots of people who visits me and the gang always leave with new opinions about older dogs. It's not as scary for them to think about adoption of a senior once they see how loveable these guys are

I got this by e-mail this morning : http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=57520

it made me so happy !

Frenchy, I'm so sorry. I never come to this section, but I saw the title and my heart stopped.

I can't tell you how sad I am right now. I know how much you loved Sam and how hard he fought.

There is very little I can say to you right now to make you feel better, but I know you have comfort in knowing he felt loved with you.

You gave him the best possible life he could have had with his condition, and I'm sure he made it this long because of the love he had for you.

He's free now of his pain and he will be with you forever.

RIP Sam, sweet angel.

Frenchy,I would take an older dumped dog in a heartbeat, just to show him how wonderful life can be,it would be a blessing to have 10 yrs together, but I would cherish this dog for the few years he might have left, one loving day at a timejust like you did Sam,Daisy and any other..

Oh Sweet Sam !! I almost never come to this section because it tears my heart out but for some reason I decided to pop in here today.

I'm SO SO sorry Frenchy. I'm crying for a dog I didn't even know--but I feel as though I knew him.

God bless you for your kindness to Sam ! He knew nothing but love under your roof !!

oh Frenchy I really am so sorry.
I have been away from the board for a while and just saw this.
Know that our thoughts are with you. You gave Sam the best 3 years of his life and in exchange he gave you unconditional love.

I could hardly read through this thread because of my eyes filled with tears. Sam was so lucky to spend his senior years with someone like you who gave him love and made him so happy. You only had 3 years, but it was a lifetime of quality time that so few older rescue dogs ever receive. His love will always be with you.

Yesterday has been a week since Sam's passing. I lighted a candle for him. I think about him every moment , miss him like crazy , house is so empty without my big guy. The other fuzzbutts are keeping me occupied , which is good !

I just wanted to thank EVERYBODY. You guys have been so supporting all through this , you're all amazing. Thank you so much again for "taking care of me" through all of this.

Sam , I still love you with all my heart and I will never forget you
