Yorkie puppy recently diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Looking for more information

Hi there, I have recently had a yorkie puppy diagnosed with hydrocephalus. He let out a cry one day and sat on his bum. From there he lost his vision and began circling. No seizures as of yet. I live in Alberta canada and am needing information on where i could get the surgery done and approximate cost? The vets around my area are not very familiar with the condition so i am seeking outside sources for additional info. Any information at all is greatly appreciated. Also, any idea on whether or not he has a chance of getting his vision back? He is 3 months old and I am just sick over the whole thing. I want to do what is best for him and am hoping that he can have a chance at life. He was such a playful happy loving puppy until the symptoms started coming up. Thank you to anyone who can offer some advice or share their experiences with the condition.

I'm so sorry to hear you and your pup are going through this, Yorkie lover.

No advice for you on the hydrocephalus, but if there is a veterinary teaching hospital near you, that might be a good place to contact. They'd have a lot more experience with the condition and could likely even do or recommend someone to do the surgery.

I think Olds, AB has a veterinary college. I'd try contacting them. The university in Saskatoon also has a vet college.
