Keep up the good work, Lukka girl!
Began to taper the Pred on Monday, will continue to reduce the dose each week for the next three weeks and on the final week she will be down to one pill every other day for a week and then done

I still moisten her kibble, maybe habit at this point, I don't know if she still needs it done. I don't let it get soggy or anything like that. She does seem to enjoy the warm gravy that results from the hot water I put on it.

My dogs love kibble gravy.

Lukka's Ma, I just saw this thread and I am glad to see she is improving! Our thoughts are with you guys as well. I am sure it is difficult to have your loved one going through obvious pain. I hope she continues on an upward swing and can get her mouth open for a good yawn real soon!

Lukka'sma I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier  I give you many &

I'm very glad you are seeing improvement with the treatment

An article from Veterinary Partner on Masticatory Myositis has good info & some possible explaination, though usually these things can never be explained

That article also mentions chewing is good therapy to help re-strenghthen the muscles - does Lukka have non-rawhide chew toys (so no sharp/small bits stick in her throat) like Kong that she loves & you can add peanut butter or other yummies?

More for your family

Many thanks to everyone who has send well wishes to Lukka. She continues to improve every day. We are hopeful that she will get full jaw movement back in time and also we pray that this will not re-occur. It all is a wait and see game, but we sure have our fingers crossed.
