breeding bugdies

I would like to try breeding a pair of budgies. I have a proper breeding box and two mature birds. What is stopping me from trying is that I cannot find any info on what kind of food to have in the cage for the parents to feed their babies. Will the babies eat the typical budgie seed or do I need something else? Thank you!

Do you have other budgies? Budgies are colony breeders. It's doubtful your pair will ever breed, since they usually need to be within hearing and sight of other budgies.

Baby budgies do not eat seeds. The parents feed them crop milk and many baby budgies are lost during the weaning process. The parents need special food as well while they are caring for babies.

I suggest you do some reading on breeding budgies before considering it.

believe it or not, when the chicks are hatched, you can buy a special mixture for the mom/adults, but mash a little boiled egg in with it, it's very very good for them, my dads raised birds for years.
