I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I hate it when people say "aaahhcura." It's acura
hmmm. i remember the first Acura commercials some years ago, and the dialogue went "Ist dass ein Deutsches auto?" "nein... aaahcura" .. oh! lookit what i found on http://www.loc.gov/nls/other/ABC.html:

Quote:
Acura (AK-yə-rä) Car
so i'll stay with aaaaaaaahcura! (don't hurt me! LOL)

Yeah, that commercial is in German though, with a German accent- the car is Japanese, so shouldn't we say it with a Japanese accent?

i dunno i go with what i think sounds better... and the commercial was not German, it was a spin-off to laugh at them i think... "you're not the only ones who make great cars", LOL! to-mah-to, to-may-toe, LOL! i just had amaazing potato soup tonight... thick and creamy and chunky and cheesy and with bits of ham and spicy too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkcHVtjbypE here is an acura commercial (1991, no less!) and they pronounce it "aahcura".. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T9vxszOHoQ here too.

It's common for people who are english-second-language (especially French people) to leave out h's in some places and insert them in others Doesn't bother me.

It doesn't bother me either when they are ESL. Another language is hard to learn, I should have clarified this person is only english speaking. That is when it bothers me!

in Picton???? as in you researched it? Or you're being sarcastic and love the slanguage and mispronunciations of everything orrrrrrrr cause there are a lot of street racers??? lol .. they all go to Niagra to race though ... I'd rather live there .... ooo there's one .... does cause instead of BEcause bother people? lol.

libary is very annoying lol.... another good one for this area!

I love it when people can't pronounce L and use Y's instead .... like libray would be yibrary... or thow in a double wammy/whammy and say yibary ... lol.

i like the newfies.... i don't remember if i posted it but they don't say H .... my husbands mom is hilarious with it.... she hears the dog bark and says " oooo O's Ear?" instead of oo Who's Here??? lol i love it.
how about binahcoolers instead of binoculars? lmao

Ha ha ha I love this thread. I will admit though I am guilty,GUILTY for using AIN'T lol, sorry habit.
I live in Alberta...and for those of you who haven't heard Alberta is Newfoundland #2. That is most Newfs are moving over here due to our booming oil industry. But my goodness are they ever hard to understand.
My bf was trying to have a conversation with this one guy who was renting next door to us, and instead of "Hey buddy!" the guy would always say " Eh bye!" And that was the part we could figure out, the rest of the time we kinda just sat back and let the guy talk and pretended we understood.

My old friend from high school was THE worst! She added letters into words that weren't supposed to be there like:
Vehicle- was veTical
Pillow- was pAllow
our friend Damon - was DamInD
Film- was filum
Milk-was malk
I was constantly correcting her.

In real life I talk very well, I swear , I think from all the talking and messaging I do on the internet though I have gotten so used to cutting words off ( sposed to-instead of supposed to) because it just makes typing quicker.
I even correct myself sometimes while talking lol, I'll catch myself using Me alot, like "Me and my Sister" instead of "My sister and I". Just simple things like that.
I guess everyone has a certain way about their words!!
