Stanhexidine 4% (pink)

Does anyone know of any side effects of this? Is there is a limit to how many times one should clean a cat's chin with the solution in a 24hr period?

How many times did the vet say to use it? I would be worried about causing excessive dryness and irritation if used too frequently. Another option would be a cotton pad dampened with colloidal silver, which has anti-bacterial properties and is completely non-stinging and non-drying. You could also put a dab of aloe vera gel (Lily of the Desert brand, which doesn't use sodium benzoate as a preservative) on her chin. Sometimes it's enough to just wash the chin with a warm washcloth after eating. Cats can have trouble cleaning their chins properly and the oily food residue is what causes the acne.

The vet said to wash her once a a day, but the acne is so bad, I was wondering if once in the morning after breakfast and once at night after dinner might be ok? I just got the medicine yesterday and the vet isn't back until Tuesday to ask. I wash her chin with it and rinse it off taking a lot of black stuff with it.

I was actually using the aloe vera prior to taking her to the vet cuz i already use it for so many things...it usually works miracles, but this acne seemed to only spread...

Seth cleans her chin and she his...that is why I thought maybe the two infections had something to do with each other...

We used that when Luke had allergic reaction on his paw pads. They formed bumps that blistered and bled everytime he walked. It was great. We just put 1 pump in a bowl and add water and just rinsed his feet in it. I guess with your cat you have to use a face cloth. I didn't find any affects from it at all. It did help alot!

I am not sure if it was the same, forgot the name, but it was a bluish/green liquid.
