1000 Island Poker Run 2008

We are much too busy to participate in too many activities but we always make time for the Poker Run.

Last night we went into town to get ice cream and cruise the speed boats that come in for the poker run.

Of course these two were my favourites

I think this boat is owned by somebody in Sherrington

No boats with any dog names so I thought I would include a picture of a beautiful golden enjoying the day with his owner.

For motor enthusiasts:

Some of the boat owners had their motors on show: One boat had 2 x 1075 HP motors in his boat.

Last but not least, the boat "My Way". It is our favourite as he lives just a couple of km down the road from us on the rich side of the 1000 island parkway.

His wife owns a yacht, heard a rumour it is called Her Way, but have not seen it up close to verify.

The poker run is a fun race with some of the fastest boats in North America (remember the Miami Vice boat, it used to participate back in the 80's). The boats gather in Kingston for the start of the race. There are designated stops along the 1000 islands where each boat picks a card to accumulated a poker hand. Who ever ends up with the best hand wins. It is not about speed, but luck of the draw. Watched the boats race past Rockport yestereday and who was in the lead: MY WAY!!!. He has a new boat this year so I think he must have been testing it out.
