Excitement

I have a 6 month old male cavalier king charles spaniel, and he has a pretty embarrasing problem. Let's just say that he gets excited really easily.....he doesn't mount.....but you can understand why this would be embarrising. Is there anything to do to stop this. I feel as though i can't go anywhere with him because of this normal behavior. I understand it is normal, but it is embarrising.

Do you mean he just gets erections, or he humps things inappropriately?

If he's mounting things he isn't supposed to, correct him firmly & let him know it's unacceptable. Get him neutered, if he's not already. At his age he has about 5 times the normal (adult) amount of testosterone running through his little brain - just like a teenage boy.

If he's just getting erections, I guess neutering would help...sometimes male dogs do this & I'm not sure what you can do about it, except not get embarassed.
