Mountain Ash Berries

Anyone know if this are poision to ingest? Quincy ate some this morning and puked all over my bed. I googled and did not get an answer. Called the vet and he said he was not sure and just to keep an eye on him. So far he is still full of beans and chasing the cat. Any change and the vet is on stand by.

I have also had good luck with local human poison control hotlines. Usually the operators are glad to help and can take human/baby toxic guidelines to help with dogs. Sometimes there are plants that are toxic to dogs and not to humans though - common examples are grapes, onions and garlic.

The best course would be the ASPCA Toxin Control Hotline however they will charge you for the consult. Usually around $60.00 Their phone number is 888-426-4435. Once you set up a case number, if the plant is toxic, then your veterinarian can call them after for no additional charge and discuss specific treatment recommendations for your pet.

Well called the poison control and what a bunch of @#$$#@!@. The only thing they said was chocolate was poison. Duh.. I know that. Anyway Mountain Ash Berries have a high level of sorbitol in them and that stuff I know.(Ate a small amount of chocolate made with it and spent the whole night in the bathroom) Since Quincy only had it in his stomache for 5 minutes tops and vomited whole berries up the only thing that should happen is, he has soupy poopy tonight. He is showing no symptoms and we did a vet run and had a blood panel done just to be sure. The vet says he thinks he is should be ok. Right now he is sitting on my shoulder impersonating a cat... lol

Rowan, or Mountain Ash, is a deciduous tree common throughout the UK. The berries are orange-red, or sometimes yellow, and develop and ripen from August onwards, often remaining on the plant until December. If accidentally eaten by animals, vomiting, diarrhoea and salivation may be seen. Veterinary advice should be obtained if pets have mistakenly eaten the plant.

It is considered non-toxic but you may see vomiting, diarrhea, excess salivation etc

Well Sir Quincy is fine. Blood panels came back normal and he is curently sleeping upside down on my dinning room table...(don't ask the little likes to see me when I am on the computer) No soupy poopies everything normal. That little fart is going to give me grey hairs....

Must be the type of dog...I have three dogs who eat the berries all the time and no issues except their droppings are now very colourful...lol

Sorry your dog got sick from them.
