Anyone heard of the breed, Cimarron or Perro Cimarron?
Hey
Anyone heard of a breed native to South America, namely Uruguay, by the name of Cimarron? They look something like this: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/perrocimarron.htm Anyone have any additional information on this breed? |

Looks like a type of Molosser, no doubt used for guarding and hunting.

Hi there
I have a Cimarron. What do you want to know? My cimarron, who is posted on the link you provided, is about a year old now. The breed is specific to Uruguay and were bred for hunting purposes. Different South American countries have a smiliar breeds, but they have different markings. However, the Perro Cimarron is the breed from Uruguay. It is very difficult to find information in English on the breed. I have also looked for breeders but could find none outside Uruguay. Hope this helps!

That poor dog in that link "Yuki" looks like she has a horrible existance, see how short her chain is!? She looks a puppy making machine!
And the cropping, talk about overdone!!! I prefer the look of the uncropped one.

That "dirty dump" is probably someone's home. Of course, I don't know Yuki or her owners so I can't comment on her living situation. The country is very poor, but they give everything they have to the Cimarron. I have spend the better part of 3 years in Uruguay and only know a handful of people that own a Cimarron. As for the cropping, they are normally cropped that short. It's just the way they do it, kind of like we crop the tails and ears of Boxers and Doberman's. I actually like the crop. My dog is on page one, Mate.
