Calling Dr. Lee!!! Stat! Stat!

Our 6 and a half week old kitten Kiki had to be rushed to the emergency room this morning. She was throwing up, she had the runs, and she was limp as a piece of paper.
they gave her fluids and couldnt find anything wrong with her at all.
can you help us!
ask questions if im not specific enough.

Could be anything with these tiny things:sad:.

Hope they started her on antibiotics just in case it is a gastro infection. How about a temp.? Are they going to be taking a fecal sample. What colour was the diarrhea? White or yellow indicate infection.

Sending some that your kitty will be OK

the poop was yellow.
they did a test on her poo to see if she had something that starts with a "d"
(this is lilliblou's daughter). whatever cross examines with parvo, they tested her for that and it was negative... he said it could be a false negative though.
and they checked her blood, and everything seemed fine.
she's on the cold side, i think he said she was 95 when we went in, and 96 coming home. i have her on a heating pad.

Could it be panleukopenia they were testing for???? That is normally deadly in cats, if momma was vaccinated and the kitten was nursing from momma then her vaccinations will help their tiny immune systems.

That was a fear with my foster kittens, they had almost white poop, but ended up being a gastro infection. Then then got sick again and it was caliccivirus.

If it is panleuk, then aggressive medical treatment. Also I think panleuk causes very low white blood cell counts so they would suspect it with the bloodwork. You didn't say whether they are on antibiotics or not.

My kittens had to go in for subq's twice daily, once in the morning and once at night. Did the vet instruct you on how to check for dehydration and to check their temp?

Probably feline distemper, which is another term for anleukopenia.

I am sorry lillibou! It sounds like the other awesome pets.ca members took good care of you though!

If anyone ever needs me, please feel free to PM me! Or start a thread and PM it to my attention - this way everyone else can help out too which is obviously so very, very valuable. My schedule sometimes can be restrictive though so sometimes I do miss some threads.

I am glad that kiki is doing better.

Lightbulb It was.....

Kiki fell off of the counter last night and into the dog water dish. She showed no signs of head trauma last night. This morning was another matter. The ER vet. failed to realize that she had head trauma, insisting that it had to be distemper. This afternoon, our usual vet took one look at her, shined a light in her eyes and diagnosed her with head trauma(resulting from her fall last night). We'll have to keep a very close watch on her for the next couple of days. We tried honey water, but she turned up her nose at it. She likes the KMR w/ corn syrup. Any other advice(her IV is still in, too)?

yes, she was sent home with her IV still in. Evidently the ER vet was under the impression, she wouldnt pull through, or that immediately after taking her back from them, that we'd just take her to our regular vet...

I think you should have taken her to see your regular vet asap.

Is there an IV line still attached? How full is the fluid in the bag? If the fluid level is getting low you need to bring her back to the ER vet right away for them to change the bag.

Question We took her Friday

No bag attached.

He left it there because her pupils weren't reactive and he's concerned she'll relapse. If she's ok by Mon. and her pupils are reacting, then he'll take it out. But considering hoe hard it is to put one of those in a tiny cat, I can kinda understand not taking it out if she's iffy. She's just bouncin' all around.
