Post Tooth Extraction Concern

Hi, my dog had his canine extracted 9 days ago and today I noticed his tooth. I provided the picture. I'm not sure what's going on with it. I'm especially concerned with the yellowish streak (I'm not sure if it's new bone growth or what). He has been getting his antibiotics. He's definitely going to the vet tomorrow, but I'm very concerned and would like to know something about it today. If anyone can tell me what's going on with him I would greatly appreciate it.

Ouch! Maybe a touch of dry socket? Does it seem to be painful to him? Our dogs have only ever had molars extracted so I don't know what 'normal' looks like for a canine extraction...

Let us know what the vet says tomorrow, pls!

No, it doesn't seem to be painful. I lightly touched the area with my finger brush while I brushed his teeth and didn't notice any reaction. He eats, drinks, and plays normally; but, I know dogs tend to suffer in silence . . . I'll give an update tomorrow. Thank you for the response.

Sorry I can't help you with your question. I am wondering though why they didn't clean her teeth well while she was under. Weird.

Yes, when Jasmine had her tooth extraction they cleaned up her teeth.

Most of them look pearly white, but her lower canine and the one beside look like they have lots of brown on them or does she have food in her teeth or something?

Yes, I noticed that too.

True, it could just be food in her teeth. Hard to know without seeing her

Oh Charlie is a male rat terrier. I got him through a rescue group 9 years ago; he is now 11. He received a dental cleaning + extraction + antibiotics + pain meds for . . . 510 dollars. I did notice all the yellow. Other than that they did a great job of removing the calculi. I'll ask them if there was a reason they didn't remove the plaque.

I went to the vet this morning. The discoloration within the gum was just food and his gums are healing great; I was very relieved. The vet gave me an irrigation syringe to clear out any food accumulation. The yellow marks on his teeth were caused by him biting on a fence/chain sometime during his early life before we rescued him. The yellow areas will not go away but they're not harmful. It's sad; the rescue owners said he was missing his back teeth from chewing on a chain (the previous owners must have just kept him constantly chained). His extracted tooth was dead and had a very tiny hole that would lead to bacterial colonization and most likely lead to an abscess due to the bacteria that was removed during cleaning. Everything is great now!
