Sorry I don't mean to budge out your ? to Ceara but here's a recipe:

Ant Ambrosia:
4-5 tbsp of cornmeal
3 tbsp of bacon grease
3 tbsp of baking powder
3 packs of baker's yeast

Mix cornmeal and bacon grease into a paste, then add the baking powder and yeast. Dab the gooey mix on the sides of jar lids and set them near the anthills or the problem spot. They'll love it to death!

Hope this helps pbp!

Just the lid--no jar required. You just goop the paste onto the sides and the lid and set the it on the ground. They don't need (or wouldn't make) that much of a climb!

That's a neat recipe!

I don't know much about outdoor ant control but I do adore one solution for indoors that's perfectly natural. We don't seem to have any problem with ants so I leave them alone.

Mycologist Paul Stamets created a way to get rid of indoor ants and termites with a type of fungus. He inoculates plain rice with the fungus and sets it out on plates for the ants to consume. The fungus colonizes their little bodies, makes them a bit crazy and eventually a tiny mushroom grows out of their heads. And the remaining fungus carried away to the nests makes any new ants or termites to not want to set up house there. Very cool.

sounds like a good problem solver, with all that gooey stuff I should be able to start my very own ant hill as they climb over each other to get the food.

Hi

I use borax laundry detergent to get rid of ants.

If I remember correctly it is:

1 part powder borax laundry detergent
3 parts white sugar

mix it in a margaine dish, with lid.

It is toxic so u just make little holes in the dish so only ants can get at it. You don't want birds, people, animals to get at the solution.

It works slowly as the ants take it back and feed the rest of the ants and slowly kill the whole bunch of them.
