Question re: Oil Supplements

I see lots of recommendations for salmon / fish oil and also for Canola oil. I was recommended Flaxseed Oil as a great source of Omega 3 from the women (usually extremely knowledgeable) who runs the local raw food store. Was wondering what the opinion on Flaxseed Oil is.

It's harder to keep than salmon oil. You have to keep it cold and preferably out of the light. It breaks down very quickly at room temperature.

But it's one of the best oils there is.

I put it in my crepes. Even though the heat destroys a lot of it, I assume it's better than canola or margarine or something...

TeriM,

If you are interested in an oil supplement, our two girls take one by
Vetri-Science that has Omega's 3, 6, 9. It has 3 types of oil in it:

BORAGE OIL, FISH OIL, FLAXSEED OIL

This product has done WONDERS for our youngest one who has seborrhea.

We've been using Lipiderm, but have (very) recently found out that one of the ingredients (citric acid) has been implicated in bloat. Can you use just plain flaxseed oil? Or is a mix, like the Vetri-Science product, more complete?

Um... you said "women" so I assumed you meant human women...

Either way, I just get the oil in a dark bottle in the fridge of a health food store.

Be careful with flax and doggies though because it can cause itchiness in some dogs.

lol indeed... Poor doggies. Instead of raw, they get complex carbs.
