Sarah McLaughlin

I just want to say a big thank-you to Sarah Mclaughlin for her TV adds for supporting the BCSPCA. They also use her song "In the Arms of an Angel". It is so nice to see someone so famous give back and in this case, to the animals.

Every time I watch that commercial I get tears in my eyes. I'd love to thank her as well.

For those of you that may not have seen it, click on "Watch the Trailer" below her photo.....

I am with Jim on this one - reach for the remote fast - if I can't find it I close my eyes and plug my ears. I guess my problem is that I can already imagine the worst abuse cases possible and seeing it on TV is just too much. The public service ads I do like are the couple I have seen where an animal is shown - in one case it is "Oliver" stating the he is a good dog and just wants to go home. These I can watch.

Yep....I can't bear to watch that commercial either. Usually the most effective advertising just happens to be the ones that illicit emotional responses. Bravo to Sarah for supporting the BCSPCA, there should be more like her.

I saw that PSA last night, and she was representing the OSPCA - I think she made several to run the SPCA gammit in Canada.

So sad  - the little burnt faced kittens always make me upset.

Oh my gosh I knew that would be sad, but jeez... Crying in front of my computer is just not good!

I really hope Sarah has made these for other provinces' SPCAs, especially Nova Scotia since she grew up here!

I think the poor kitty with no front leg did me in.. Poor little thing. I wish I could take them all in. Or at least more!

As hard as this commercial is to watch I think it must be shown over and over again. It would be nice if other well known celebrities would join in to help out as well. We need to get as much publicity about animal cruelty as possible and these images need to be impregnated on people's minds.

The animal cruelty laws in Canada need to be changed. The current penalties are grossly inadequate. Every time a MP gets convinced to present a Bill to change the laws it gets voted down.

So, the more attention this commercial gets, the better. I think our Prime Minister and every MP in Canada should have to watch it daily.

Every time that ad runs, my 8 year old begs me to find some way to help these poor animals. Breaks my heart to see the abuse and neglect, but it gives me hope for the future to see that my son cares so much.

Rainbow, I absolutely agree with you. Laws need to be changed.

Yes, the commercial is hard to watch but has to be shown. Hopefully children will also see it and shed a tear or two. It will make them more kind and caring people and good pet owners.

I volunteer at a shelter and some of my friends say they could never do it because it is so hard to see the injured or abused animals coming in. I think the whole country HAS to see them so we can move forward with improving animal laws.

Sounds like your son is going to follow in your footsteps.

And, we somehow have to convince those in power to do so.

She's such an amazing person, and to do something so great with her fame is even more a testament to how much she cares for animals.

I can't watch that commercial. The scenes, coupled with her song brings me to tears! I saw it once the whole way through and I was bawling like a baby.

I agree,Sarah is a great singer and I have seen those commercials,it makes us cry,but unfortunately to many,it means nothing:sad:
Ever since I came to Canada a new animal-cruelty law has been on the table, only to be rejected year after year, the only thing that changes is the number of the Bill

I can't watch that entire commercial either. I've seen it in it's entirety once and was bawling my eyes out by the end. It makes me happy to see people like her coming out and making others aware about how much help unwanted animals need.
