Hummingbird stalker

Please pardon the quality of this photo, but it was taken at my computer looking through the window and screen. The only reason I post it is to tell the story.

This is Tilly (the mama to the quads, not much bigger than them now) on the porch rail stalking the hummingbirds. It is almost an impossibility for her to get to one of them without her falling at least 8-9 feet to the ground. But she likes to think she can....and waits...and watches. Haven't seen her try to jump.

The most amazing and most important point to me is....the hummingbirds still feed - all the time even if she is there. You can't see one in the picture but there was one there when I snapped the shot. I can't get a clear shot of them with her there. If I go out on the porch, it won't work. She'll leave and they won't come.

A couple of weeks ago there were 5 or 6 at one time trying to feed - almost fighting each other. We think that is because it has been very dry here and extremely hot. I am thankful to get to see them.

Note, if I felt she could get them, I would relocate the feeder. It thrills me every day to see them come back to feed.

She is probably as fascinated by those fluttery beating wings as are we ! Cats have such great powers of concentration.

I quite like this photo actually. It has good composition and suggests a story.

Nice job!

Wow, marko, thanks! I still wish it was a bit clearer.
