A Pet's Ten Commandments.........
I found this very touching:
Remember that they can't do a lot of things for themselves and that they depend on you to make their life a quality life! A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS......... 1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me. 3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being. 4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you. 5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me. 6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it. 7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you. 8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak. 9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old. 10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so. We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth and has four legs!

This is so true, so nice and so sad at the same time. They really don't ask for much and it doesn't take much to please them. The small things we do mean the world to them....
I know one of the things that gets me thru the work day is coming home to a very excited-to-see-me-wiggle-butt dog, who else greets me like that? No one, and she does it every day, no matter how long I've been gone - the excitment is there.

Yes, this really got to me. I also get such a wonderful greeting from all of them. The first one to meet me at the door is always Vlad with his tail up in the air, then Oksana the others come one by one. Oksana follows me everywhere in the apartment. She can be up on her cabinets in the kitchen but if she hears me get up from the couch to go upstairs, I can hear her jumping down to come follow me. That's why I don't close any doors to them when I'm home.
No one in your life does that. Even when you have kids they stop doing that when they get older.

Thanks for sharing that, ancientgirl. Animals have an unconditional love, that is so wonderful to experience.

I feel that I cant appologize to Falco enough for not going with him, he was just a baby too. There was too much happening all at once, and when I found out he had parvo and the vet had never seen the test show a positive so fast, I broke down... his chances of survival were less than 10%. It was the hardest decision I had ever made, but it was for the best ( I hope) but I really wish I could turn back time and atleast have gone in and held him through it. I would have still bought him as atleast I know with us he didn't have to suffer needlessly ( we had him for 2 weeks) Now i'm all emotional again... Off to go hug all my gang

My friend did that when she had to have her cat put down. I wanted to say something to her, like "You shouldn't have let him go through that alone." but she was bawling on the phone I just didn't say anything. No one should die alone, especially an pet who sees you as their entire world.
