Exclamation Red Bumps On Cats Ears

I HAVE A 1.5 YEAR OLD WHITE MALE NEUTERED AMERICAN SHORTHAIR WHO HAS RECENTLY DEVELOPED RED RAISED BUMPS ON HIS EARS. THEY ARE ABOUT 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH IN DIAMETER AND HIS SKIN IS UNBROKEN. THEY DON'T APPEAR TO ITCH BUT THEY ARE RAISED AND HE IS UNCOMFORTABLE IF YOU TOUCH THEM. HE SEEMS UNCHANGED IN ANY OTHER WAY. COULD THIS BE A SYMPTOM OF A DISEASE/DISORDER OR MAYBE MOSQUITO BITES? SHOULD I TAKE HIM TO THE VET? PLEASE HELP!
