pant leg biting
whats up with this pant leg biting all of a sudden....beathoven 1.5 years old,is starting to bite the pant legs of only 3 members of the family....my father(and his daily daycare provider). only grabs when he leaves the deck and goes on the lawn......yet beathoven is always there(on the lawn).....my 15 yr old daughter...she does get him going though(running jumping.ect) and my wife(but only at certain times) no set pattern........me never...i tell him to stop he does...anyone else no way.....i think he may be trying to set his pack order again...he did this at a very young age but was corrected and the past year has been fine......also i caught him humping george tonight ...both neutered........i'm at a loss as to why???

JMO, but I think you may be right on the money... he may be trying to display dominance, test the waters, see if he can move up in the pack... he probably doesn't do it to you because he KNOWS you are above him and won't challenge YOU.... but your wife, daughter, and poor George.... you may try having the whole family be firm about it - put him in a sit or down stay when he gets nippy. each and every time. so he KNOWS wife & daughter are above him. do your wife & daughter help train beathoven?

as far as the training.....i went to basic's with him.....and i spent the majority of time training him......about the first six months he came to work and every where else with me.....still does(not work though).....i'm thinking they need time individually to deal with this issue.....if not back to school.

Yep, it's adolescence- the time when they test everybody to see if where they think they are in the pack really is where they should be. It's very important to be strict about obedience and the NILF during this period, especially for the people he is challenging...

My Eskimo does this to my husband when Eskie know that dinner is ready and my husband is trying to go downstairs. My pup gets frantic and of course my husband yells - bad thing to do with an Eskimo - a calm voice yields much better results. On Sunday I stood there until my husband spoke calmly and had puppy sit and then go into a down - and calmed down - until my husband started down the stairs again. He was going to get his sweater, but my poor little guy didn't know that - he was worried about the chicken in the oven. If my husband would be consistent when pup gets over excited it would help a lot - especially since there are just the 2 of us so it is better if we both use same techniques. My guy is 2 1/2.

You'd know because if you met in real life, you'd be like, "Hey, I've seen that dog before!"
