ivermectine on cats

Hi,

My cat has a severe problem with fleas and I want to know if I could treat him with injected ivermectine 1%? This is what I use to do with my dogs but I am not sure if cats can tolerate this treatment.

Thank you

Please take your cat to the vet. because if he has fleas he may also have worms. Do not use medications without his approval first, because you may do more harm than good. And you don't know how much to use and how often!

You have to be EXTREMELY careful when it comes to cat flea medications - DEFINITELY DEFINITELY read the box CAREFULLY.

Many cats DIE each year because they are given flea meds for dogs.

Here's a recent article - though it talks about Permethrin not the med you are referring to.

Please be safe - talk to your vet first.

Yes, I second that. My vet recommended I don't even let my cat touch my dog after application of a certain flea treatment (don't recall the name unfortunately, but any vet would know).
