Doggie dermatologist?

Can anyone tell me if a dermatologist for animals should be consulted in the case of a suspected Lupus or Pemphigus? These are immune system issues but the lesions on the skin are what really make it horrible....

We've consulted our vet (actually, 2 vets) but it's all still a mystery and we were not directed elsewhere so we are taking matters into our own hands....either to an animal dermatologist or a "super vet" but we are not able to see the latter before 2 weeks so we were wondering if a derma could diagnose these issues.
