Exclamation My 5 month old puppy eats his poop

I just got my puppy about a month ago and he eats his poop after it has sit in the yard for awhile. I saw that fixing the dog may help the problem which I am going to do in about a month, but is there any other solutions, if fixing him does not work?

ive got a book herre on puppy training.. and this is what it says to do, if you are still having this problem.

try spraying the feces with "bitter apple spray" available at pet stores. dont let him see you spray it let him do the taste test. if that doesnt work it says this is often a cronic problem and only rapid pickup can prevent it
