Do certain dog foods reduce shedding? - Answered by Dr. Slome

I've heard that certain dog foods can reduce shedding. My logic tells me that shedding is natural, and no dog food could affect it. Am I wrong? Does anyone know if there actually is a food that really does have an effect?

A good quality food can affect shedding. The hair is healthier. I feed my girls raw food with flax seed oil and my rottweiler still sheds, but not as bad as she did before.

No kidding??? Isn't flax seed oil a laxative? What kind of food do you use?

OOPS! The girls are getting 2,000 miligrams of Salmon Oil every day. Sorry, I forgot I switched them over. I get a bottle at Wal-Mart of the people kind. Chase also gets glucosomine as she is older.

Salmon oil! Thank you very much! I will get some today. I appreciate your prompt response- must have been online at the perfect time!

Also, after your first reply, I looked up postings by you, and I'm wondering- do you have any pet photos posted? I am new to this site, and perhaps I'm not navigating properly. I did find several insightful text postings but none with pics.

Seems like I posted on of Chase when I first joined and if you can find the Jones Soda Label thread, it will lead you to my favorite picture of Missy, the nottweiler.

This link will take you to my website. There is a beautiful picture of my Chase there.
